When Is Tulip Season in Texas?

5 Places to See Texas Tulips (Including Tulip Farms) (1)

Tulip season in Texas generally runs from the end of February through late March or early April, depending on the weather conditions.

The best time to visit the tulip field is mid-season, around mid-March. This will ensure that the tulip field will have blooms and, hopefully, won’t be too picked over.

Our best advice is to follow the website or social media accounts of the Tulip fams to keep up with their optimal time, as it only lasts a few weeks.

If you are like us and live near Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas Tulips in Pilot Point is the place to visit.

Located in North Texas, just north of Denton, Texas Tulips makes for a great day trip from Dallas.

Texas Tulips is one of the largest tulip farms in Texas, and they intentionally plant late-blooming bulbs to ensure visitors have tulips to enjoy all season long.

After paying a small entry fee ($5 at the time of publication), visitors can grab picking baskets and head into the tulip fields, where they can pick their tulips (you do pay by the stem for the tulips you pick).

The flowers are planted in rows, and the color and variety of tulips generally group the bulbs, making it easy to make the perfect arrangement.

The farm also has daffodils to pick and enjoy, and adding these to your tulips makes for a stunning flower arrangement.

We like to arrive right when the farm opens for the day to try and beat some of the crowds. This is especially important to create the perfect tulip photo session.

It is important to note that professional photographers do have to pay a $25 fee for a day pass to shoot in the garden.

If you spend more than a couple of hours in the fields, I would advise waiting to pick your tulips later so that they don’t wilt before you leave.

After paying for your stems, the workers will wrap them in a flower gel and some pretty paper to ensure they stay alive on the journey home.

Texas Tulips is located at 10656 FM 2931, Pilot Point, TX 76258.

Pro Tip: If possible, try to visit the tulip farm during the week or early on the weekend. They get very crowded during the Spring months, especially on weekends.

Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls, TX

Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls, Texas, is a great place to visit year-round, as they always have fun activities and events to enjoy.

We especially love visiting in the spring when their fields come to life with beautiful blooms of tulips.

Located about 3 hours southwest of Dallas, Marble Falls is one of our favorite small towns in Texas.

Close to Austin, Texas, in the Texas Hill Country, this lakeside community is bursting with small-town charm and Texas hospitality.

After paying a $5 entry fee, grab a basket and head into the field to pick your own tulips and take photos among the gorgeous flowers.

If the Spring weather cooperates, arrive early to avoid the crowds and pretend you have been transported to the Netherlands.

Like other tulip farms, Sweet Berry Farms wraps your stems to ensure they survive until you get them in water.

Remember that the weather greatly impacts when the blooms emerge, but it is generally late February, and they will last until late March or early April, and sometimes mid-April.

Again, watch the social media and website of Sweet Berry Farms in the first weeks of February to get the latest bloom report.

Poston Garden in Waxahachie, Texas

5 Places to See Texas Tulips (Including Tulip Farms) (7)

Another great place in Texas to enjoy tulips is Poston Garden in Waxahachie.

While Poston Garden used to allow you to come out to their massive tulip fields, they have changed it up recently and instead offer a tulip festival called “Tulipalooza.”

Tulipalooza takes place in mid-March and features beautiful tulips from Holland.

The event occurs at Getzendaner Memorial Park in Waxahachie, Texas, and benefits dozens of local charities.

The tulips are imported straight from Holland and planted in the park for all to enjoy.

Like the other tulip farms, you can pick your tulips and take home a gorgeous bouquet.

In addition to the tulips, the event also features food trucks and vendors, making this a great spring outing for the whole family!

Admission at the time of publication is $15 per adult and $5 per child, with children five and under admitted for free.

Remember that 50% of your admission price goes to charity, so while this tulip field is more expensive to enter, it is for a good cause.

Dallas Arboretum

5 Places to See Texas Tulips (Including Tulip Farms) (10)

Another great place to see tulips in Texas is the Dallas Arboretum.

The Dallas Arboretum comes alive every spring with beautiful blooms of colorful tulips.

While you cannot pick these tulips, they are still gorgeous to photograph.

The Dallas Blooms Festival at the Arboretum is a great Dallas date idea, so grab your sweetie and head out to see over half a million spring-blooming flowers.

Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

5 Places to See Texas Tulips (Including Tulip Farms) (11)

The staff and volunteers of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens plant over 150,000 bulbs each year to welcome spring to Fort Worth.

These spring-blooming bulbs include tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths, meaning there is a nice variety of textures and colors when you visit.

Of course, the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens offers many other attractions, like the Japanese Gardens, the Rose Garden, and more, so you can easily make a day of your visit.

You can purchase admission tickets online or onsite for your visit.
